Cockroach! Not again!

If you had read my earlier post on cockroach and thought you did enjoy it, here’s a... continuation? Yeah!

The setting once and again happened to be in the kitchen. And the procedure was somehow the same as before. Despite these, there wasn’t any sense of déjà vu, yet. Instead, I was enjoying myself and partially overwhelmed with fear.

That little roach was lying upside down, struggling with it’s feet up in midair when I came out of the bathroom and noticed it. This kind of convinced me that I might have contacted with it physically. Ironically, my immediate reaction was, “Voilà! Somebody, camera!”.

I hope it wasn’t the same roach I encounter previously, or else, consider it suay. Haha! It’s always better to bump into any roach when night falls, at least you wouldn’t be running around shouting for help, innit?

My hand was shaking, afraid that the cockroach might do stunts and leap up suddenly.

I supposed this roach must be pregnant. Judging from the video clip. If you watched it carefully, you had saw a black thingamajig popping out it’s bottom. What baffled me was that, ahem, it’s horny – two horns poking out. Being ignorant, I initially thought that the roach was popping out a nymph, like pregnant ladies giving birth. After doing some research, I confirmed that baby roaches hatched from eggs, not squeezed out from vagina. The horny little thing was most likely an ootheca.

But! But! But! After another round of further research, I found out I am being suspicious, as always. The horny ends are just normal cercus of cockroaches. Just like monkey's tail, nothing special about it. Duh.

Cockroach's Lifecycle

Dammit. First I was accused of mosquito breeding, most likely I would again, be inculpated for keeping cockroaches and see them multiply instead of sending them to paradise.

Again, some awfully useful and incredibly noteworthy sites I referred to:
http://www.bio.umass.edu/biology/kunkel/cockroach_faq.html
http://www.who.int/docstore/water_sanitation_health/vectcontrol/ch30.htm

Sometimes, I felt that learning all these stuff are much more fascinating then to mug up about the human cells, immune system and the different metabolic pathways for the sake of getting "A" grades.

Cockroaches are more cool then lizards are!

I am the guy.

I am the guy, who was called a very special and unique name.
I am the guy, who once stole books from the library and money from my mom.
I am the guy, who got myself involved in a car accident when I was only five.
I am the guy, who mischievously mimicked superheroes smashing glass with my bare hands.
I am the guy, who scarcely get myself involved in a game of soccer, or a match of basketball.
I am the guy, who sometimes looks for perfection, and other times not.
I am the guy, who unintentionally, but sometimes intentionally, ignore feelings of the closer ones.
I am the guy, who once in a while surfs porn but somewhat hardly fantasies.
I am the guy, who prefer chio bu in clothes than in their birthday suit.
I am the guy, who think of sex but never rape.
I am the guy, who might be seemed more as a Casanova than a Don Juan, but am neither one.
I am the guy, who craps more than anyone, but always the lamest among everyone.
I am the guy, who sometimes prefer to be a loner, but other times wishes for the opposite.
I am the guy, who might prefer living a virtual life, than existing as a virtual being of reality.
I am the guy, who have got lots of family problems, but anyway, I shouldn’t care much.
I am the guy, who see nearly all strangers kind, but most acquaintances bad.
I am the guy, who is a big attention grabber, but all I seek was a little recognition from the mist.
I am the guy, who is baffled by a lot of things, however only possess ability of confusing others.
I am the guy, who never hesitate being honest, at certain times.
I am the guy, who never dare to own up, sometimes.
I am the guy, who loves the nature, the art of music, and the art of photography, and blogging.
I am the guy, who can spend hours typing this post, if I wanted to.
I am the guy, who can type even longer than this, if you never get tired of it.
I am the guy, the blogger of Blogasm.

Why? Because I’m the very unique, special aberrant guy, or so I thought.

You might have seen this before, did you? Or maybe not. Blogasm is just a deserted space for me to act anonymously, carrying out the extreme. Post might be offensive to majority, if you need to, read it lightheartedly.

The truth, finally disclosed. Reason? Undetermined.

Not to worry, I assured you that the GeckoZ you once knew, has still been the same.

I am the weird guy, the weirdest of all.

Diabetes

After eating a whole tube of Mentos, the Freshmaker, within just one day, I realized that my urine is producing faint scent of Mentos, without the freshness. I'm thinking if my urine tasted sweet, since the smell was there.

Mentos
Mentos now comes in three sizes. Large, medium and small. Medium size are higly recommanded in minimizing the risk of diabetes.

I shall look out for ants around the toilet bowl later.

Sorry for this disgusting post, but however, I felt that this should be shared across. Please never attempt to consume Mentos again if no one else intends to share at least a handful with you. You are the one drowning ants in your pee in the end. And that's a sin.

If chewing cannot be resisted, then air chewing is strongly suggested. Excess chewing is good for the mind, excess sugar is certainly not.

I hope you have not lost your desire for sweet stuff yet. Period.

I still misses the spearmint Mentos.

The gray and maroon combination failed, and perhaps, impossible to succeed.

Other then colour itself, what does the word “gray” and “maroon” actually means?

Gray [gray]
adj.

  1. Colour of ash.
  2. Dismay or gloomy.
Maroon [ma roón]
adj.

  1. Deep purplelish-red.
  2. Isolated or alone.

The meaning to these two words sounded unlikely positive huh? While reading my blog, have you ever felt sad or isolated? I hope not. In overall, what do you think of this colour combination right in front of your eyes?

Apart from blog templates, maroon and gray amalgamation could be appreciated in other areas too. Starting from the first day of year 2006, I mentioned that I am going to dye my hair in gray hue before the Lunar New Year. The last attempt failed due to insufficient bleaching, never would I expect it to fail again this time. Utter complete gray! Gray as in the meaning - dismay!

Any experienced hair-colour changer here? Please enlighten me why doesn’t the gray dye stay after bleaching for more then 2 hours! Bleaching almost ruined my hair – in the sense of colouring. Red stripes turned out way too light and gray base remained unseen.

Maybe I should do this combination when I’m old, when my hair naturally turns gray? Only then when I do highlighting, the maroon will stay. However I might be facing negative critiques wherever I’m standing, like “Look at that moron in maroon!”.

BeforeDesired
Picture on the left was what’s on my head before this morning. Look at the picture on the right, that was the effect I kinda looked forward to, which I think it’s absolute coolness!

The few hours at aunt’s salon was probably wasted. I should have just trimmed my hair instead of having designs on my hair. Or rather, I shouldn’t have went in the beginning. I preferred my hair as before. Never mind. no pain no gain, isn’t it?

The only way I could successfully gray my weird hair is by photoshopping. Please get back into shape, my hair.

During the few hours of scissor and different chemicals meddling on my hair, I took a picture almost on each progressive point. Some pictures tend to imaged me like superstars! From Little Clear Plastic Hood, to Barley-Davidson bike rider, to Siao-Kia rock band’s punk, and then to some modern Samurai seen in anime. All the above so damn cool one. But! But! But! The final result, dissatisfaction lar!

Hair styling in progress
Eight shots. How many idling points have you estimated throught my whole session at the salon?

Final product
The final product. Just how far was the result from the previous pictures, and what I longed for? Very far!

I'm not sure if my friends ever wondered why didn't I bring them to my aunty's place. They might get good discount, isn't it? But after reading this post, more or less y'all should know the reason. Hahaha! Although I might not get exactly the style I expected, but at least everything's still fine with me.

Noticed Jasper STORMED his hair, I wonder my hair can STORM gray with maroon blood oozing out or not.

Colours will bore me sooner or later. Imagine having to think what colour you gonna dye the next time. Tiring. I should just stop thinking about colouring my head, er, hair, anymore. This kind of thing also depends on fate one.

I’m a lizard, not iguana.

She's back!

“Howdy, everyone! I’m back!”
“Whether I’m back or not is not very important anyway, the main character today is no one else, but her!”
“Her? Who?”
“The cute and adorable baby girl!”

BB
“Do I look like a princess”?

“Hee Hee Hee Hee!!”

Okay, seriously, she’s back! But not exactly back. Ahem, I heard voices within me contradicting. Sorry but I meant, she’s back to my house to play, not to stay. Mum went over kidnapping bringing her back for she knew how much I missed her, and I bet, the main reason was still because she missed her too. Haha!

Probably the tot was too tired and perhaps, due to not seeing us for long, she kind of forgotten us. Very heartbreaking. She cried out as soon as mum stepped into the house. Never mind, she’s just a child. But that’s not it. She’s a holy terror! Half of her time were spent crying, I wanted to snap a few shots of her tender cheeks also cannot. Mum decided to put her to sleep. Sorry, I meant, let her sleep.

Good thing she didn’t slept for long. Once she woke up, my phone starts to work again! I thought I was mischievous enough, but she was a hundred percent full of it! Heart-melting baby pics are not very easy to take, especially when you are using some not-exactly-a-camera gadget.

Given the span of time she was here, I took a quite few seventy eight shots of her, including the boy who peed my house. Out of all the photos, thirteen was wasted due to very bad resolution beyond the hope of photoshopping. I’m now left with sixty five pics on display.

Imp
The imp who peed my house dirty!

I know, one day, these brats will be back again. How could I say I don’t miss them at all? Haha! Here’s the two most heart-warming photographs I’m publishing in my blog.

Image oneImage two
Ahhh… don’t say you don’t love them like I do. Stop child abusing!

Babies are very cute things.

It’s all about money.

Mom had been bugging me to hand over my past year’s savings from my mini piggy bank which is not at all, in the form of a pig. The pestering period had lasted quite a few months. She deposits the valuable pieces of colourful paper, both my savings and the ang bao money together annually for the one percent of interest.

Notes I stuffedCoins I stuffed
They look more like karang guni’s barang barang.

Somehow, you could reckon that I was busy, busy trying to be lazy. I wasn’t aware of how many eggs I nested till she counted them for me. The notes were folded into origami hearts to make slotting easy. Easy way in, but difficult way out. The method “by-hook-or-by-crook” do not work in such a situation. “By-dig-and-by-shake” way is adapted as the one and only solution, but still, it takes a century to get the money all out. And that should partially explain why I don’t use my savings for phone bills, transport, food and et cetera. Getting money from parents are relatively more convenient.

Heart-shaped notes
Girls nowadays very demanding. I’m doing all these just in case I had to fold nine hundred and ninety nine hearts out of bright-red ten dollar notes to propose.

Finally I decided to empty my already-stuffed mini bank today since I need more space for the new year. Then I came across quite a lot of things I had almost lost them in my memories. The treasured tokens I once collected, the old notes I’ve got from yesteryear and before, and the ancient 50 cents coins of the olden Singapore. Those arcade tokens are holy to me. I used them to make decisions by tossing their heads and tails. Presently all arcades are already using some smart card and normal 50 cents coins, these tokens became more precious.

Old notesTokens
Money and tokens that are on the verge of extinction. Tokens from Wywy Wonder Space, Clack Quey, E-zone, Chimsy, and I-forgot-what.

Old cash are cleared, here comes the new cash don in the over-sized red packets. Furthermore, I get to eat more of my favourite “cash-you” nuts – the nuts in kidney shape. I’m expecting mental-high from all these incoming cash already!

New notes
Being a Singaporean, how can I not have the new plastic notes immediately? Not because it’s Singapore’s currency, but rather, because I have the trait of kiasuness.

If 4D strikes me or I strike 4D, whichever the sequence is, I would probably be very happy this Chinese New Year. That’s how new year wishes like “Wishing you prosperity, good luck, and happiness” should be granted! Haha!

4D tickets
My first and last tickets so far. I’m a responsible player, not a full time gambler.

I came across this interesting picture. Take off your coloured glasses before looking, or enjoying it. Thank you.

Body art
Is it “no money, no honey”, or “no honey, no money”?

Money is the root of all evil, but also the mojo to certain impossible.

Forgive me for showing you all the crumpled notes. It's just that I don't have the habit of money-ironing.

Is the rain over? I see no indication from the rainbow.

Today: Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms.
Tonight: Variable clouds with scattered thunderstorms.
Tomorrow: Mixed clouds and sun with scattered thunderstorms.
Tomorrow night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Monday: Scattered thunderstorms.
Tuesday: Scattered thunderstorms possible.
Wednesday: Scattered thunderstorms.

Weather forecast as at 14th January. Looks like another round of accumulated vapour will be falling again.

After so many days of continuous downfall, be it rain or snow, in different regions, I’d eventually saw the first ray of the golden sun early this morning. The unexpected engulfing heat made the way to school slightly uncomfortable. I’m still missing the cozy sensation under the blanket while snugging on top the comfy mattress.

All these while, bloggers were posting articles in relation to the almost-unceasing pour – from enjoying the weather, to loafing around with nowhere to go, and to complaining how annoying the low temperature was. And some other folks were mumbling about how mushrooms were growing on their still-moist-from-washing cloths!

Raining view
I’m enjoying the rain on my way home. Drench me wet.

Actually I was rather hoping that this rain wouldn’t stop. The humidity of months ago had been a bad torture. Sebum were diffusing out of my body diurnal and nocturnal, in front or away from the fan. Daily block nose almost blocked my daily activities, super sian.

However, looking at regions that are undergoing disasters caused by this rain, I think, it better stop as soon as possible before more innocents meets with tragedy.

King Kong
Aftermath of the rainy season. Trees were uprooted. Initially I thought King Kong was here.

There was completely no rain today, throughout the 24 hours. Does it signifies the fainting of this rainy spell?

I'm feeling the high dgree of heat again. Macam Suana liddat.

The answer to why mosquitoes are ruling in the near future…

Just now while I was in the bathroom, I saw a pail. And this pail, it’s red in colour. Oh by the way, are mosquitoes attracted to red more then any colour? Ahem. Never mind, this is not going to be another “Why-lightning-don’t-fry-fish” post. Back to where I stopped, this red coloured pail, it contains some water. And in the water, this is what I saw.

Have you seen what I saw? Can you identify what you see? Perhaps you can’t. I should explain it hopefully not elaborating too much and worst come to worst, exaggerate it.

In the video above, you saw a distinctive tiny-winy black tadpole-like dot gliding around aimlessly – just resembling a comma in the font size of 28. That’s the mosquito pupa itself. And after it swims to the parameter, touching the pail wall, you shall see a worm-like body with a lighter hue of grey, but still itsy-bitsy. That’s the larval of the mosquito. From what I see, the “live” version, aquatic form actually darts around instead of glide. And they are certainly smaller.

I know, bloging about some pupas and larvals at home is no big deal – it’s not as big as seeing lava from my mom when she mimics the eruption of volcano of course. However, when I showed her one of her many masterpieces, she scolded me for making a din.

Just how naturally are we aware about dengue mosquitoes? Not likely, assumption being made from the dengue awareness advertisement seen on TV. If people are aware enough, there wouldn’t be a need of such ad. And also, looking to the opposite block of your HDB flat, do you see people capping the bamboo holes? Or just take a look at your own holes, it is likely to be left open 24/7, just like mine.

After telling my mom about this, she replied.

“Aiyah, I busy mah. You think I as free as you meh? Just leave it there and you can use the water to flush the toilet anytime after your business. After it’s gone, then everything is fine already what!”

Ahem. Fancy flushing toilet bowl with larvals and pupas contaminated water? Hopefully some un-flushed larval feeds on bacterial in the water so that your toilet bowl is cleaner, but with the presence of occasional darting larvals and pupas. So lets say if you manage to flush all the teeny cuties away, does that mean it’s safe? I smell trouble instead. You thought you had escaped from the mosquitoes of the near future, but the fact is that, they are still alive and flying in the Singapore air, ever ready to suck your blood to produce another 40 – 400 white eggs per shot. You not scared ar?

I decided to pour some shampoo into the pail and allow them to suffocate alone. But they just takes up too much of my time. If I was a bit more wiser, I would have scoped them up onto dry surface area and let them die immediately. Haha!

It’s pretty strange why I only saw two pupas and one larval. 40 – 400 eggs were produced each round, remember? Maybe these three were the early bloomers? Or perchance, the rest of the troops were eanten up by this single larval? Likely impossible! Then I also dunno liao.

Mosquitoes' lifecycle
The eggs takes about 1 to 2 weeks maturing. A bit wasted since the aquatic form looks more attractive then the adult form.

Lizards like mosquitoes, but definitely not inedible pupa and larval.

For more information about mosquitoes, check these interesting websites out:

Beautiful pictures included!

Sorry for how blur and small the video turned out. That’s the maximum of what my K700i could do.

Just as I was wondering...

First thing first. The title of this post was not deliberately written in the fashion o’ todaealas – which was merely coincidental.

Just as I was wondering, I surmised what amazed me might just baffle you as well. Trivia like this aren’t obvious to most people out there, therefore it proves that my brain has surpass normal therefore I’m trying to highlight the fascinating bits of info as such. I think I’m being modest.

It is general knowledge that water are good conductors of electricity. Highly ionised sea water contains significant amount of salt, hence providing exceptional ability in transmiting electrical energy. Here’s some questions that you could attempt a thought.

  • What happens to marine creatures when lightning strikes the sea?

  • No accounts has been reported about floating distorted dugongs drifting along the Pacific Ocean, why?

  • Are marine organisms fully armored with shock-resistant scales and shells?

  • What’s the answer? Here’s a clue, fishes do not have superpowers like Electro.

    As I started chanting away…
“Fry the fishes! Zap the sharks! Electrocute the whales!
Fry the fishes! Zap the sharks! Electrocute the whales!
Fry the fishes! Zap the sharks! Electrocute the whales!
    …”

Yvonne popped out and exclaimed: You very cruel!

Have you made your hypothesis yet? Does shoal of fishes actually encounter mishaps like being shocked by lightning and then swept up to the shore? Of course not, wholly. Try imagining all underwater creatures facing extinction after the monsoon period. Town flooded by myriad varieties of fishes ranging from shrimps to whales. “Wow”, I said.

The crucial element, therefore, lies on the water itself. As long as the fishes are underwater, they're probably okay. Same goes to you. You can always dive deep into a swimming pool during rainy days without getting fried, provided you can tahan for so long, lar?

Basically, lightning stays more on the surface of the water rather than penetrating it, except at the strike point. As water is reasonably considered good conductor, it is able to keep most of the current on the surface. When lightning strikes the water, the current theoretically zips across the surface in all directions. If you are partially submerged in the water, there you go, being partially fried.

Where did I get information like this? From the Net of course. No, I ain’t referring to the fishing net. But rather, the internet.

    Lightning-fried fish definitely can’t hold a candle to mom’s home-fried fish.

Let's get the ball rolling, and the pins toppling!

It’s weekend again! Just like most weekends, it’s either gathering around the pool table, or leading a queue behind the four-step line – waiting for a turn to roll the bowling ball. Indeed! We, the SaLiWuTa brothers, desired to be a bowler for today.

Just in case you didn’t know yet, SaLiWuTa refers to Van, Long, Faj and me. Long was absent as he got some assignments on hand that required immediate action taken.

I was delayed as I over-slept this morning, waking up only ten minutes before the time we had arranged to meet. Despite of being late, my brothers waited for me with no complains, full anticipation, and most importantly, a broad smile! That define buddies. Correct?

So there we were! Set our foot at Great World City for our meals – the KFC’s Daily Saver Meals. I got myself my preferred selection, you could have guessed what I was referring to. And apart from food, the girl serving me caught my eyes. Not fully on her appearance, but rather her good working attitude towards the crews and customers. A part-timer waiting for her “O” level results, I surmise. With a nice name called Ting Ting. Ahem, I noticed her name tag.

    Bandito Pockett meal
The only KFC meal that whet my appetite. Bandito pockett + 1 cheese fries + 1 regular mountain dew for just $5.95! You have saved $2 for tomorrow’s lunch and 25 cents for your almost-rusty piggy bank.

We then headed to Kim Seng's crowded-on-weekends Star Bowl. Fortunately there were still 2 or 3 vacant lanes for us, barely sufficient. Game after game. In no time, we finish five games at a rate of one minute per frame, which charges at $3 per game.

    Van’s Confident shot
Look at that posture together with the cap, so professional and cute!

    Faj’s Confident shot
This is another bowl that promises a strike!

    Van’s disappointed shot
Perhaps I made the wrong postulation. See the sad face yourself.

    Faj’s disappointed shot
Ahh, and Faj got that kind of look as well.

The cash spent on all activities today was nothing special on individual, but in toto, it cost all notes and coins that I have in my wallet! I turned pauper and am on a three dollars loan from Faj. From now onwards, do-it-myself tuna bread will be for dinner. Actually, it has been my dinner for the past three to four nights, with fresh lettuce in lieu of red tomatoes. It might look tawdry and “anyhowly" in photos, but it sure is appealing and mouthwatering in actual. I could imagine you imitating our Merlion already.

    DIM tuna bread
A wholesome sandwich for dinner, with the nutrients of meat and veggie. Servings: 7 – 8 slices of bread.

Snapped some photos on the road leading towards home. One of the shots that caught my eyes was this.

    On a lonely road
    The colours were beautifully contrasted.

More photos were snapped but left un-blogged. You are advised to check out my Flickr account on habitual basis after every post if you enjoy my works, or just simply curious to check out more photographs as of that particular post. Thank you!

    Strike.
    Double.
    Turkey.
    Four-bagger.
    Five-bagger.
    Sixpack.
    Seven-in-a-row.
    Eight-in-a-row.
    Nine-in-a-row.
    Ten-in-a-row.
    Eleven-in-a-row.
    Perfect Game!

Now, that’s my target as a bowler. I guess it’s quite obvious to see the distance apart from my goal, ever since the castle in the air appears right in front of me.

Check out some cheem cheem terms on bowling so that you won't turn a total suah koo in front of the pins. I bet you wouldn't want them to laugh at your ignorance after you knock them down for umpteen times. Haha!

And oh, todaealas, this Van claims to be your Godfather.

    Back to prison

I went back to Queenstown Remand Prison yesterday. Don’t misinterpret, the furthest I stepped into was only the quarters. I grew up in there and dwelt all the way till I ended my year of secondary 5, right after my GCE ‘O’ Level. Relocation was by force as dad had reached his age of retirement as a prison officer.

    The route to QRP
The long way home. Leading to 17 years of memories, collected upon each unhurried steps.

    The opposite block
This is how the quarter looks, my block is somewhat different from what you are looking at.

    The guard tower
Saw the guard on the tower in orange up there? He caught me red handed!

The guard on top found me taking photographs and hand-signed me to stop my activity. His eyes secured on me at sight. How I wished my art of infiltration has reached it's top-class, at least it might give me a few more chances to photo shoot the scenery before getting detected. Seriously, the surroundings were beauteous. Peaceful. Dissimilar from the typical HDB flats or any semi-D houses and rows of boring bungalows.

Lastly, before I left my hometown in Queenstown, New Zealand Singapore, I took the last photo. The signboard.

    The signboard
    Queenstown Remand Prison

And so after that, met up with Fajrul for a game of pool. Check out our monkey shots!

    Smug!
Looks like a victorious pose. I’m Smug.

    Awesome!
    This pose is awesome!

Now, might as well have some jackass’s shots.

    Concentrate! On the camera?
How to aim when there’s no concentration?

    What face?
The cue ball is lost, sir!

    Too happy?
    Wazzock! Check your cue!

Ok, that’s all the pictures I took. Posted the entire album out in a single post. For larger size, check out my Flickr instead.

    Wholly presented to you by:

    The sprog is gone.

    Cute
Sweet. Cute. Adorable. Kawaii! And I ran out of my vocab. Need me say more?

Beautiful things never last. Cute babies – that are not biologically yours – especially.

Mom was told that the sprog would be taken care by her family in the future. Both her mom and granny were jobless and have got all the time in the world to look after her. The last time I saw her was before the house renovation, around December. Due to our filthy environment, we sent her back home, not using DHL of course.

I wouldn’t be seeing her anymore, not unless her parents or grandma decided to pay us a visit. Or they got employed again.

One month have passed. Babies grow in speedy rate, don’t they? Right now, I’m wondering how does she looks like. Mom said she’s not as chubby as afore. The photos that have been published and linked were taken around November. They are only shown now all thanks to my procrastinating attitude.

    Blur
Remember her blur looks carefully. The next time I shoot her again, she’ll look a lot more different!

Only after realizing that I might not have much probability of seeing her again, I’m starting to miss her. And her smiles. And her cries. And her baby whiff. And the way she turns into a sleeping beauty. And lastly, the way she ignores me!

    Ignore
Ignoring me is one thing. Giving me that kind of look is another.

I finally discover her absence and desire her presence. I wanna carry her again.

    Having nostalgia.

    Sony Ericsson K700i

    Good tidings!

“Look, I got a new handphone!”
“So… what’s the big deal about it?”
“Well, look again. The issue is that, this is my second handphone throughout my 19 years of life.”
    “Whopping enough?”

The once trendy Nokia 8250 handphone well known for it’s brightest illumination ever, was the very first handphone that I had full control over with. But not to boast about, I had it only at the period when it was almost outdated. It was roughly 4 years back when I first possessed it. A sec 3 kid, I was. People around me were already holding on to phones with colourful screen liao. Some even armed with built-in camera, lor.

Today, this companion of mine has turned into a ha’p’orth, degenerated piece of plastic with faults. I shall let it rest in peace, together with those memories it had stored on my behalf – my birthday sms-es, especially.

Speaking about those memories, I once told myself that I would use the phone for as long as possible, and still have yet fully given up on it. But I was at the same time wishing for a camera, or a camera phone.

My dad called home in the early evening, saying that he’s getting a free phone from god-knows-what promotion or something. Holy mackerel, holy moses, holy moly, holy smoke! It was both surprise and turmoil. So after some comparison and consideration, I made a decision.

    new Nokia 8250
Nokia 8250, the before. Shining and glowing in it’s silver amour.

    old Nokia 8250
Nokia 8250 forced to rest in peace. (taken by rival Sony Ericsson K700i)

A camera phone at this point of time is simply just way too tempting!

I believe that having a camera phone following me wherever I’m off to, I would be able to enhance my post by a lot more folds! Say, a geckozillion times. More narcissistic photos interesting pictures up ahead!

Right now, I starts to worry about where else can I store my birthday reminders. At least 2 dozens of them. And one more thing, I realised that I lost one of the phone number while transferring them to the new phone book. Are there any other victims?

And by the way, being a non-gadget-worshipper, I hope that any Samaritans out there could tell me approximity how much do I need to pay for surfing the net with my handphone. I tried that, it’s just way too cool!

Lastly, presenting to you my latest handphone...

    Sony Ericsson K700i
SE K700i sure got a much mesmerizing façade as compared to Nokia 8250, but I still prefer the latter's slender figure. Chio!

    Computer hassle

School’s resuming tomorrow. As a student of Republic Polytechnic, and most importantly, a practically round-the-clock computer user, I’m obligated I ought to make sure that my computer is working completely fine. In other words, functioning in tiptop condition. Besides, self productivity and working mood relates to computer efficiency, doesn’t it? Infrequent impede of the processing machine hinder your progress as well, do I have your agreement?

To achieve this level of excellence, I went to carry out the 4 essential ways of performance-enhancing and speed-escalating processes. Not to miss out, some erroneous stuff in consequence of my itchy fingers.

But now I’m desperately feeling desperate. Contradiction. After long minutes of waiting, laptop’s still working in it’s usual sluggish pace with occasional lags. Websites saved in address bar are gone, resulting in either getting the links from other web pages, or retype the whole address based solely on recollection - chances are minute if site-to-site links were majorly relied on.

Fortunately blogs do have links from one to another. Else, it would be like loosing a cellphone with over 100 phone numbers stored in it - loosing all contacts.

Hope I don’t need any URL-forgotten resources tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I’m still deciding whether should I move on to the plugins-not-installed but save-space-using-tabs Mozilla, or the traditionally practiced Internet Explorer. After all, both have their pros and cons. Be decisive.

At this point of time, IE are coming out with a new version. Version 7, however still attaching to the word “Beta”. It’s describtion seems highly competitive with Mozilla. They gotta flame up the fox real soon to beat IE. Otherwise, the fox would be flambé for a wholesome meal.

2006 - The present, and the future

Year 2005 has just elapsed in the blink of an eye although we usually blink both eyes together. So what have everyone been doing during the past year? What have you intended or planned to do during the following days and months of 2006?

It’s already 2.49AM of the brand new year, and I’m only planning of how to write this post. Wah liao eh.

As mentioned in my last don’t-know-how-many post, I fear celebrating birthdays with my family members, and, of my family members. This starting of the year probably means another round of birthdays are coming!! I’m in deep water. Real deep. Like ocean. Geckos are also scared of sharks!

Dear chums and readers of 《壁虎山庄》, the one in Chinese, I guess y’all are probably wondering, why this post IS IN ENGLISH!!!! Ya lar, new year, new feeling and a new sense of weirdness. A blog is nothing without readers, a blogger is nothing without a brain – of new ideas, probably new crappy ideas. I think at these point of time I’m widely influenced in English blog after loitering at Tomorrow.sg for such a long time. Cockroach knows about my plan – having English post, again!

It has been more then half a year blogging in Chinese, I’m feeling unusual to communicate in this alien language English again. But probably Cockroach’s blog give me the courage to try it again? Or perhaps I should turn bilingual as well, I mean, REAL BILINGUAL! Balance of eastern and western tidbits as of my “current mood” as at that point of time. Would my lair turn into utter messed-up Rojak after spending 6hrs spring cleaning and changing my blog layout without sleep till 10am the next day? I ask you, you ask who? Hahahaha!

For 2006, I’ve download Firefox, and found out it doesn’t suit me at all. That’s not my cup of tea. I prefer suger in my Lipton. But because of Firefox, I got myself iTunes somehow. iTunes looks pretty attractive to me after my maiden try. Be it visually or it’s accessibility.

    iTunes
This is what you would see in the library song list, but the visualiser is more powerful then Windows Media Player Ver. n!

I’m the suah koo of IT, but surely, I’m not the last soul to find out about iTunes and Firefox okay!! If anyone likes it, go get it! GeckoZ recommend one.

So for 2006, I got myself a considered-new hairstyle that comes with bleaching - due to an utter failure of hi-lighting of grey hue. I’ll be back. To get it dyed, before the Lunar New Year.

May as well consider a tattoo on my forhead and perhaps getting a pair of look-like-vampire contact lenses!

    cosplayer
A ready made cosplayer, ready to parade at Orchard!

Happy New Year, of the year 2006!!!
    Slàinte mhath!
